Greenfield US sportsbook on the innovation team, built to New Jersey gambling regulations.

William Hill is a bookmaker. A change in United States law had opened sports gambling there, and the innovation team was building a new version of the entire sportsbook system for that market. We came in during March 2018 and stayed to August.

It was greenfield and it moved fast, inside a strict agile environment.

Features had to be built in accordance with New Jersey gambling regulations, and that applied across the whole system rather than to one corner of it. A regulator sets what a feature is allowed to do before anybody decides what it should do.

The continuous integration setup had to be flexible enough to be picked up and reused for each state.

We were responsible for implementing new features to New Jersey regulations across the entire system. Some of that was front-end change, and the rest reached into the Node backend, adjusting it and extending it where a feature needed more than was already there.

We also built the CI setup, made flexible so that each state could reuse it.

Our record names the team, the market, the regulations the work was built to, and the technology. It does not name the features, say how large the team was, or say whether the system was live before the engagement ended in August 2018.
