Missguided was one of the UK's largest fast-fashion e-tailers, mid scale-up, on a legacy Magento stack that had become the limit on how fast the business could move.

We worked this transformation from two angles. One was the API and aggregation architecture. The other was decoupling the storefront.

Fast fashion trades continuously, and a migration cannot cost the business a day of sales. The new architecture also had to keep talking to what was staying: SAP, existing product databases, and third-party services that were not moving anywhere.

We were architecturally responsible for the main GraphQL API and the aggregation services that every re-platformed application would depend on. It was built on GraphQL, Redis cache and AWS Lambda, integrating with third-party services, the existing SAP systems and the product databases, with high availability, response times and peak load as the design constraints.

We also decoupled the front end from the legacy Magento stack, which is the half of a headless migration where the trading site has to keep working while its foundation is replaced underneath it.

A storefront no longer bound to Magento, and an aggregation layer built for the applications that came after it, delivered at full trading volume during a scale-up.
